Secretary Abraham Announces Changes to Board Affiliations

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Secretary Spencer Abraham, Chairman and CEO of The Abraham Group LLC, today announced two changes in board affiliations in 2012.   

Secretary Abraham today was named to the Board of Directors of GenOn Energy, Inc, (NYSE: GEN), one of the largest competitive generators of wholesale electricity in the United States.  GenOn, based in Houston, Texas, has power generation facilities located in key regions of the country and a generation portfolio of approximately 24,200 megawatts.  

“I am delighted to join the GenOn board of directors,” Abraham said.  “GenOn is a dynamic energy company with a strong management team and a promising future.  I look forward to helping the company move forward in the months ahead.”

As a result of his new board position on a public company, Secretary Abraham is also announcing his resignation as non-executive chairman of Areva Enterprises Inc. effective January 30, 2012.   Abraham served as chairman of Areva’s Advisory Board for North America since 2006.  “Due to other roles and commitments I have undertaken, I have concluded that it is best that I resign from my position of chairman at the board of Areva, Inc.,” Abraham said.  “I have enjoyed my association with the company and have the highest regard for the management and team at Areva.”

In addition to his role on the boards of several private companies, Secretary Abraham is also a Director of Occidental Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: OXY).
